Household waste recycling sites will start accepting more items, including wood, furniture and electrical items from Monday, June 1.
The following items will be available to residents at all locations in West Sussex:
• garden waste
• general household waste
• electrical items
• Large objects
• white goods
Unfortunately dirt, hardcore, drywall, asbestos, tires, and textiles / clothing will not be allowed at this time. This is to ensure that social distancing measures are maintained and to limit queues.
The mobile services of Selsey and the Witterings will begin to reopen from Thursday 4 June for wood and green waste only, starting with the Witterings.
Residents are always encouraged to visit the sites only if their travel is necessary and their waste or recycling is not suitable for curbside collection.
Social distancing measures are in place at all venues, meaning a smaller number of people will be allowed in at the same time and could lead to long lines.
Deborah Urquhart, Cabinet Member for West Sussex County Council for the Environment, said:
“The sites will soon be able to accept a wider variety of waste, starting Monday, June 1, including cardboard, electrical appliances and furniture. I am also pleased to announce the reopening of mobile services in Selsey and the Witterings from Thursday 4 June for green waste and wood only, starting with the Witterings.
“I want to thank everyone who has stored their waste safely at home so far.
“The sites are likely to be busy with long queues, so please determine if your travel is necessary before you go. ”
Vans and vans with a permit can now enter the sites. Trailers are still not permitted at this time, in order to ensure social distancing and limit queues.
